We are excited to be celebrating our 100th anniversary here at Molalla Fire and wanted to share a little history from our beginnings.
An organized fire department was formed under Chief Masterton in 1924. Before this firefighting in Molalla had been limited to neighbors forming bucket brigades and in 1914 the city installed a fire hydrant system and purchased two hose carts for public use.
In 1925 the volunteer firemen started the 4th of July Roundup (now known as the Molalla Buckeroo) and the Firemen's Dance to raise money for the purchase of a firetruck and equipment. The volunteers took possession of their new firetruck in January of 1926. The Buckeroo eventually grew too large for the fire department to continue running and was turned over to a new rodeo association. The Firemen's dance continued into the 1990's.
100 years later and Molalla Fire still holds strong ties to our rodeo history as can be seen by the bull rider on our logo/patch and this photo proudly displayed in our lobby.
Molalla Fire continues to provide first aid booth coverage for the Buckeroo each year.

Happy 100th! Great to hear about the history of the department.
Do you still have the cups for sale
It's a shame that the fireman's dance ended. We never missed it and it was a great way to show our support and raise funds.
This week is National Telecommunications Week. We want to thank our dispatchers at Clackamas 911 - CCOM. We don't always get to see them, but they are the calm voice on the other side of the radio when we need them most. THANK YOU! ... See MoreSee Less

This past Saturday, Molalla Fire hosted the joint fire academy with Colton Rural Fire Protection District #70, Aurora Fire District, Woodburn Fire District. Saturday turned wet really quick with working on hoses, streams and hydrants. Your volunteers attend a 4 month academy to gain the necessary skill and knowledge to better serve you, our community.
If you are interested in volunteering, visit your local fire station. We always need good people that want to serve.

We are very fortunate to receive the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Seasonal Staffing Grant. Last year it allowed us to staff our brush rig during daytime hours. Increasing our staffing by 2 more people is such a benefit to the citizens of Molalla! ... See MoreSee Less
